Soon you can schedule a lift with Lyft

July 11, 2018

This summer, Walnut Creek Recreation is proud to announce the expansion of its senior transportation program with the popular ride sharing app, Lyft!

Lyft was founded in 2012 in San Francisco, California.  It provides on demand transportation by matching riders with nearby drivers who will pick them up and take them where they meed to go.  Each driver is carefully screened, and as of 2017,  Lyft has over 5 million riders.

Qualifying Walnut Creek Seniors Club members age 60+ will soon be able to schedule FREE rides through Lyft by calling Civic Park Community Center or by using the Lyft app.   Rides are available during times that the City’s existing Senior Mini Bus program does not run (i.e. after 3:40 pm, Monday through Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday).   It will also supplement the existing Mini Bus service during times of high demand. Priority will be given to non-drivers and those without vehicles,.  All rides must be within Walnut Creek borders.

For more information on the Lyft pilot program, stop by the Civic Park Community Center front desk or call (925) 943- 5851.

The new Lyft pilot program is funded by a generous two-year grant from TRANSPAC, the Transportation Partnership and Cooperation for Contra Costa County.
